We close off Women's History Month by taking a look back at a forgotten classic of the French New Wave, Cleo From 5 To 7 directed by the iconic Agnes Verda, often credited as the Mother of the French New Wave. And discuss how this amazing and flawed film broke ground in inverting the trope of the cool French girl and critiqued the male gaze and gave women of the 1960s a voice in the otherwise male-dominated art movement, and mocked the inherited sexism of the genre the film industry at the time, issues that persist to this day, with the strictly enforced dress code of the Cannes Film Festival, and the lack representation of women in the French film industry.
